Neuropathic Chronicle – a poem by Philip Cooke

I feel the neuralgia of fear
fire as a neuron convulses
sending an electric shock pain
to paralyse hope and repair.
Its awful intensity ramps
beyond thresholds of severity

And as for reason, asking why,
where and how? Know I will suffer
with no easy explanation
from the unkindest fervent pain.
I sit in shock after each attack
simply stunned by its torture.

This original poem is our first published piece of reader-contributed  literary art. This marks the beginning of what I hope will become a frequently recurring series. If you wish to submit writings to the blog for consideration for publication, please follow this link. I’d love to hear from you!
