…and we’re ready to share!
On August 27th, the US Department of the Treasury granted us IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit status, retroactive to November, 2016, when the Facial Pain Advocacy Alliance was born. That’s a major milestone for a fledgling organization, and we achieved it in under a year!
You might be asking yourself, “What difference does that make?” Allow me to explain. Along with the legitimacy that 501(c)3 status confers on an organization, it also means:
- exemption from federal corporate income taxes,
- exemption from state corporate income taxes,
- ability to apply for grants and other public or private allocations available only to IRS-recognized, 501(c)(3) organizations,
- potentially higher thresholds before incurring federal and/or state unemployment tax liabilities, and
- discounts on US Postal bulk-mail rates, advertising, marketing, and other services!
Any time you donate to the FPAA, your contribution is tax exempt and that amount can be written off on your income taxes. You can rest easy knowing that our financial reports will be public record, so there’s no room for funny business. (There never has been, but now you have the assurance of the federal government’s watchful eye.) You can also be confident that 100% of your donation will be used to further the FPAA mission of promoting awareness, education, and support for, not just one, but all forms of chronic facial pain.
This is just the beginning!
